PCI Photoshop Etc Accelerators PowerPC 7 posts Oct 29, 2012 — Dec 4, 2012
I know about the Nubus-based Photoshop DSP accelerators but are there any similar PCI cards? I think I remember seeing something like that years ago but I can't remember the name of it. I'm not talking about using modern GPUs for processig.

Adaptive Solutions' PowerShop board came in both a PCI and a NuBus version. I've never seen either one of them in person, but have read reports from folks who claimed to own them. So, I don't think they were entirely vaporware.

In modern terms, I think you'd call it a card with 4 16-core DSP chips on it.

It must have been one of the PowerShop cards I saw on ebay years ago. And this Radius ThunderColor board just ended on ebay.

I had an mPower board once very briefly. I didn't know of any obtainable software that worked with it.

Are there any docs on writing plugins for these old versions of photoshop (or premiere for that matter) still available? It seems like having plugins to farm tasks off to modern machines could be useful, if you prefer the older interface but desire modern computing speeds.

Off the top of my head and slightly unrelated to Photoshop Apple was selling a QuickDraw 3D accelerator card for PCI macs.
