I am now down to one Mac and it is non-functional. 8-o

I live in Ottawa, Canada and would appreciate any suggestions on strategies to locate older Macs before they get trashed. I am currently on a very limited income, so would need to get something free or real cheap. At last check, I still need to eat occasionally to keep me functioning.
