lol. I did not think to check the Quicktime software. I ran MoviePlayer (it would likely not run on an SE do to lack of color quickdraw) and it does support wave files. But I used AIFF anyways as I had already converted the file to that. Looks like I now have a "System 7 Sound" which is exactly what I need.

Saving SND files involves using the export menu instead of the save as menu.
