ANS 500 question

I am going to put this here, as the thing at least had PCI slots.

Why do you suppose didn't the ANS have a MP configuration, with two or more 604 processors?

Is it because a server mostly needs good I/O, because AIX was not ready for multiprocessing, or some other reason?

It's always possible that an MP board was designed but abandoned when the ANS whent nowhere in the market.

There was, in fact, a multiprocessor board for the ANS, a dual 180MHz 604e. It never made it past the prototype stage. http://www.applefritter.com/node/539
