fixing this easily will need access to an oscilloscope.
Probe the vertical drive out from the mainboard, and see if it is present. If not, you wont have vertical sweep.
If you do have a drive signal, then you need to check the TDA1170. The datasheet is available.
Check for the present drive signal at the TDA1170. if its not present, then you can look at the connectors between logic to analog, and the inverter gate on the analog.
IF it is present, check the TDA1170 for voltage and cracked solder. if its ok, then replace the TDA1170.
I have seen alot of vertical output ICs blow in TVs, but personally have never seen a bad one in a compact mac. But theres always a first. But I tend to think the problem lies elsewhere.
