DDR PC3200 RAM in an iMac G4?

DDR PC3200 RAM in an iMac G4? Hardware 2 posts Feb 14, 2013 — Feb 14, 2013
I pulled from an older HP that a friend wanted to get rid of a 250GB Western Digital hard drive, 7200rpm 8MB cache (I installed it, harvested out of an old LaCie dual RAID array HDD with 1 bad HDD, this one being the good one) and pulled out some RAM from the computer. 3 sticks in total, 2 256MB Infineon factory HP modules and an off brand 1GB stick bought from a local computer shop. All are DDR PC3200. I was wondering if this RAM would be compatible with the iMac G4, since the iMac G4 needs DDR PC2700 RAM. Some say yes, some say no. I would like to know before I put it in and seal it up, since it has to go in the internal DIMM slot.

I don't have a G4 iMac but I've used PC3200 RAM in a MDD several times. Faster RAM doesn't hurt
