ADB cable = S-video cable?

Considering using an s-video cable as a substitute for an ADB keyboard cable (for test and backup purposes).

They are both 4-pin mini-DIN male to male. Any risk in trying this? Anyone done it before?

I just don't want to blow up an ADB controller or keyboard controller if there is some quirk to it like pin reversals.

Yes, exactly the same pinout.

S-Video cable = Excellent ADB Cable Substitute

ADB Cable = Terrible S-Video Cable Substitute

And watch out for S-video switchboxes as ADB switchboxes. Usually they have a common ground pin, which causes all kinds of havoc on the bus.

My Beige G3 runs an S-Video cable as an ADB cable, people have been doing it since wayyyyy back in the day. You won't have any trouble at all.
