I transfer files from os9 classic , which will read the mac zip format, whatever that format is i dont know and doesnt really matter, and put it on any mac with the zip extension (tested on my plus so I could load software on my external hard drive). I actually use a zip tools version on the plus and format there then put the disk in the usb drive then it mounts normally. I dont format alot just when getting a new disk.
