I'm giving up on this for now.
I have this SCA Server hard drive from Uniserver , a 3.5" 68pin drive going through an adapter to 50-pin SCSI. (Which is going through a 50 pin to a centronics connector adapter, to the external SCSI port) I don't think this is the issue.?
When I got the hard drive it worked fine and booted the system, however I couldn't get my ethernet configured on the preinstalled System 7, so I formatted it and copied over my working Zip disk. (Usually that's all it takes). Now the thing doesn't boot. Hell, it doesn't even mount on the desktop when I boot from zip or floppy.
There are 2, 2GB partitions. One is formatted and copied system 7 over. The other is just empty.
I formatted with FWB Hard Disk Tools 1.6, and it mounts the two partitions on the desktop. But when I eject my boot zip, and reboot, it give the :?:
I pop in a zip or a floppy and it loads right up as usual. Once it hits the desktop, the two partitions on the external don't show up. If I go into HDT and mount them, they show up and are readable and I can work with them. I can even see them in the Startup Disk control panel.
I know I should be using the patched HD SC Setup 7.3.5, but it locks up when it detects the drive.
Something's just not right here and I can't figure it out.
I don't mind booting off of zip, but this hard disk is SILENT, and I would rather stick to the zip to transfer files.
Got any suggestions?
If it comes down to the drive needing to be on the internal cable, I already got he terminator for it, so I'll just need a two connection SCSI ribbon. However if this is what needs to be done, I'm going to ask to get this A/B recapped first.
