Why on earth didn't Apple put any screws in most of their power adapters

I don't know. Perhaps they (wrongly) considered them to be disposable items, which are to be thrown out if any problems arise. Not only is this wasteful and bad for the environment, but it's expensive (Apple's new MagSafe adapters go for around $80-$100 if I remember correctly).
