Interesting point about the production dates, that explains a lot in retrospect. It's no wonder Apple never offered an Active Matrix LCD option for the 190, it was the low end offering.
EveryMac has some interesting info:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook/specs/mac_powerbook190_66.html What's a 7.1
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac/specs/powermac_5300_100lc.html
Quadra 630 would be another 68k Machine that requires an OS newer than 7.1 (if you were saying vanilla 7.1, NJR.)

____LEM lists 7.1 as the lowest required OS for the 630, everymac says 7.1.2P
http://lowendmac.com/quadra/quadra-630.html
What the heck is a 7.1.2P anyway . . .
https://www.google.com/#psj=1&q=%22system+7.1.2p%22
. . . and why does Wikipedia list it as required for the P410? Gotta check the ROM levels
Wikipedia makes distinctions between P and (Pro) versions of 7.1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_7
Interesting hit on 7.1.2P right here at the MLA
http://68kmla.org/forums/archive/topic.asp.TOPIC_ID=6341.html
I'm wondering if 7.1.2P is a patched, machine specific, backwards compatible OS like 6.0.8L was for the PB100
Interestingly enough, 7.1.2P appears to work on the Performa 410(?) a 68030 Mac(?) as well according to that OS chart on Wikipedia.

____and a what the heck is System 7.1P3?
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP224
I'm confuzzled, but what's new? ;D
Given support for the Q630 and the P410 it would be interesting to see if 7.1.2P will load on the PB190
I'm guessing it's a patched system supporting IDE and the 68030 . . . }
