Other than the higher price, the Classic II was a pretty good, if not perfect way to end the Classics. The CC doesn't count, it wasn't part of the Classic series in any way other than name. It was more like an adopted child of the 128k, not a blood relative as I see it.
By 1991 it was a System 7 world, 4MB couldn't cut it any longer and the speed bump was necessary as well. The 9" periscope on your sweet Christmas gift popping safely up out of the padded MacSack your mom or dad had bought for their 512k or Plus back in the day was pretty sweet sitting on the cramped desk back in your dorm room. It did all you need ask of it until graduation day rolled around and that Classic II/7.6.1 went back in the carryall for its last trip home and onto the desk of your kid sister who'd just graduated from Junior High.
It was plenty good enough to get you through college and see the youngest of your sibs through high school graduation in 1999. That Classic II wound up being one of the best investments your folks had ever made.
