Did it!!! My two Mac's are now networked together!!

It was the file sharing settings that I had not setup the first time (hence my initial difficulty).  I had a little difficulty getting both Mac's to see each other as registered users, but as guests the process went much smoother.  Since it's just me and me using these two Mac's w/ no internet attached I figure logging in as a "guest" will be fine.

So all it took was a $6 cable off eBay to get this setup.
