ah the speaker was getting constant dc voltage… i see. yeah i guess i should take my multimeter and see if there is an constant voltage going to it…i am thinking now that the caps have been changed… it will probably be fine.

Probably so. Word of caution for non-recapped classic owners. If the caps are bad, you'll have DC on your speaker and itll smoke.
