Looking for info - found this in my reorganizing the stash.

Marked TV Tuner ASSY 0002-0516

ADB's / RCA's and a cable / coax

Looks like you need the software. External TV Tuner is pretty cool.

That is a cool device - I would have loved something like that connected to my Mac in the 90's. You'd hope it also gives you better video quality than the crappy Apple AV card does, too.

It's also funny how there are many devices that would work on ADB while PC could only have keyboard to keyboard port and mice, trackball, and trackpad to mouse port. ADB was like USB's distant relative.

Sure does look like a really cool peripheral - right, now software - any ideas or leads?

Ive done some searches but not exactly knowing the name or model not sure that the RasterOps graphics installers (found here: https://web.archive.org/web/20140209165439/http://www.macdrivermuseum.net/video/knighttech/index.html ) will or wont work.

Was / is this a common or not-so-common box?

Exactly! But what magic to have TV (or composite video with sound!) running into an Se/30, ci or fx over ADB.

ADB is an S-Video cable, right?

even over ADB I'm sure it's better than coax offers. And yea, ADB is SVideo or SVHS exactly pin compatible.

According to the article in the pic, that's an add-on for the RasterOps ColorBoard 364 FrameGrabber/VidCard I got on eBay. The RC364 has DA-15, S-Video and Composite connectors.

My initial reaction/WAG (not quite clueless, but fairly close to that) for the ADB daisy-chaining on the box would be text overlay or a sound sync or input setup? Neither Video Connection on the RC364 carries sound, which might explain the speaker/sound monitor? Dunno, have you got an educated guess, CelGen?

The product announcement jibes with the ©4/5/90 date/V1.01 ROM sticker on my 364. Manual is©1990, however the driver disk is ©1991.

HEH! Just followed your initial link, forgot about that thread. When I lost my password, I was alcoa for a while and it looks like I made the same guess. Same advice: Make the DuckGo with those parameters. I try not to use PersonalInfoHoover, but breaking that habit is tough going. :-/

From my reading, I'm still thinking it is a software contolled external video / TV tuner vs a titiling rig. If anyone can dig up software, would be really interesting to check this one out. Not sure the market for watching video on the se/30, but maybe there was some use on the ci or fx back in the day?

B&W TV! Now that would be good. Something tells me though it wouldn't work on a non-colour Mac.

Neat stuff, it would be cool to see it in action! Too bad the TV is analogue and not much good these days.(unless you have anolog cable)
