Thing is OOM, it sounds like he just reinstalled the OS. I would recommend though, that you backup those floppies you bought. You never know, age might get to them (which reminds me, I have to make backups of all those installer disks I got almost a year ago).

For games, you can install them on the hard drive, but I would recommend keeping a copy on a diskette. Of course, make sure they are legally obtained.
