Help with two Mac issues Troubleshooting 3 posts Feb 4, 2014 — Feb 4, 2014
I have an original Mac, later upgraded to a Mac Plus. Just recently it's developed two issues. First, a capacitor has burned out. It is C38. Does anyone know what this is and point me in the direction of finding a replacement?

Second, the Mac seems to work fine - it appears to boot properly. However, all I'm getting on the screen is a horizontal line across the center of the screen. Poking around the internet, I found that this occurs when the "vertical i.c." goes out or needs to be resoldered. Anyone know what I need to replace to fix that issue? Thanks.

Well, you might have bad solder joints on the yoke connector. very common problem.

You might find the Compact Mac Repair Guide of some use in debugging your classic. It's among the Stickies, above.
