Rewire mini-DIN-8 PhoneNet adapter to DB9?
Can anyone verify that this is an OK thing to do? Just got a 512k working for the first time and would like to network it.
Could probably be done, but DB9 phonenet adapters are available, if a bit uncommon. Keep an eye on ebay for a while; one will turn up.
There are Mac DB9 to Mac DIN8 adapters you can use the PhoneNet on. I used to use them long ago, a couple I even built. There are plans to build such an adaptor on the net. Just google it.
I looked up the pin-outs for the two connectors then cut up a DB9 PC serial cable and used it to make an adapter. It worked like a charm.
I found a couple DB9 PhoneNet adapter on eBay but they were a little pricey (compared to the DIN8) and I have a good sized collection of DIN8 PhoneNet adapters so I figured I would just use what I had if I could.

Congrats, time to make more! If you do a nice package you could probably sell them.
