- What kind of expansion or upgrade slots does my Mac have?

Cut a long story short, here are the different and incompatible types of PDS:
- No PDS - 128, 512K, 512Ke, Plus, II, IIx
- Proprietary slot, not PDS - Classic, Classic II
- Limited PDS, no cards ever made - IIfx *
- SE PDS - SE only
- LC PDS - LC Macs, Quadra 630, 640, 640DOS, 51xx, 52xx, 61xx, 62xx
- 030 PDS - SE/30 and IIsi **
- IIci PDS - IIci, IIvi, IIvx, Performa 600
- 040 PDS - Quadras ***, PowerMac 6100 with DOS card adapter ****
- 601 PDS - PowerMac 6100, 7100, 8100
* cannot communicate with Nubus slots
** NB: the IIsi Nubus adapter does not work in an SE/30
*** except 630, 640, 640DOS
**** should also work in 7100, 8100, WGS 9150 but for space issues
Various Powerbooks also have PDS-like connectors for expansion, such as the PCMCIA cardbay in the 520/540, or the Docking Connector on the Powerbook Duos.
