Amiga 600 came out 8 months after the Classic II. While the Amiga 3000 was 2 years before the Classic II, you are comparing to the wrong generation of Amigas. Also my point about the Amiga performance had to do with the fact that most of that extra functionality was in custom chips, so yes it will take more room.
