Well, modern computers the charge circuitry is regulated. the portable, it is not. battery consumes all it can from the charger. So the higher current the charger is, the more the battery will draw. Sometimes this can over-tax the charge controller circuitry. 

Bad bad bad design. thats why it was all revised in the PB100.
