Hi, Recently I got an Mac SE/30 that was not working. When turning on the Mac the sound is Ok and the hardrive is spinning but no video. The screen is black. A RasterOps graphic card was installed ( RasterOps 264/SE30) when I got it. When I attach an external monitor to RasterOps its working perfect. Color and everything is perfect.

Without the videobard installed the screen is black. No difference if the board is installed or not, the screen on the SE/30 is black.
I noticed on the logic board that it is a wire between UE7 pin 6 and UI6 pin 3. The trace between pin 6 on UC7 and pin 33 on the GLU CHIP has been cut.

I have seen in previous threads https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/21888-se30-rework-wire-and-bomarc-vs-apple-schematics/?hl=reworked&do=findComment&comment=225691https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?/to...eworked&do=findComment&comment=225691 that it is related to the NUBUS card. Is this wire because of the graphic card? Hove to get the SE/30 to work without the RasterOps card?
The logic board is not recapped and it could be UE8 that’s bad, (https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/23819-typical-video-board-issue-with-all-mac-se-versions-and-se30/https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?/to...oard-issue-with-all-mac-se-versions-and-se30/ ) but would it be working then with the RasterOps card??
The Logic board is marked 820-0260-10, 630-4198-
I would be grateful for any help.

you need to remove the caps, clean and put new caps on the board.
You have to recap it before you can start any troubleshooting proceedures.
Then you may need to replace UE8, or check its traces.

As for that wire, I think its a factory thing. I have an SE/30 with the same wire. Blue in color I think. I can not be certain, but I believe the early boards have it. Of all the boards I have seen, the SE/30 went through many changes for just being one model. (unlike the SE or Plus where several versions of each exist, Plus, Plus 1MB - SE, SE superdrive, etc)
Lots of macs have the thin green wire repairs. Back when they actually made repairs.
He's talking about cut trace between UG7 and UH7. That's what it looks like to me.
Thank You all for information.
Next step will be to recap the board as techknight suggested. The fault must be in the logic board as its working perfect with another SE/30 board. I have tried to locate the defect by reading " Guide to the Macintosh Family Hardware" https://archive.org/details/apple-guide-macintosh-family-hardware but its to complicated for me anyway.
I will report after recap.

Its working!!
Thank You techknight, You were right.
Started with recapping the board but no video. The traces to UE8 were Ok so I changed LS166 to a new one.
Everything is working perfect.
Its nice with the RasterOps to have two screens, one B/W and one in color.
Thank You all who contributes to this great forum.
