Hey everyone,

This is my first time posting here on the forums. I have acquired an original macintosh and when it starts up i get the sad mac error 040200. I think that this has something to do with having bad ram. I have no idea how I can about fixing this. Are ram chips still available for this mac? Any ideas? Here are some pictures http://imgur.com/a/D6rh9.

Alright, there is not any way to just buy this RAM is there? Also, I opened up the case and the capacitors seem fine. Should I be replacing the caps even if they have not gone bad? I also already took out the battery. Is there anything else I should be doing to make sure I do not encounter anymore problems? Finally, even once I get it working, I am going to need a floppy disk with the operating system loaded on it. How would I go about getting that?

Just sent it to Uni, he will fix whatever needs to be done so it is a fully functional machine. Going any other route you will regret it.

Yup, looks like she needs a set of ram on there.

Its best to not mess around and just get all 16 ram chips replaced with good stuff, I use samsung.

Feel free to pm me.
