Quadra 660av does not like original software

Quadra 660av does not like original software Troubleshooting 9 posts Dec 7, 2014 — Dec 7, 2014
So I got me a 660av CD and it wouldn't boot. So I stick in 7.5, it boots, 7.6 it boots. So I start from a 7.5 floppy and put in the cd thinking what the hay.

I get it to install a full system for 660av and go to reboot. This Mac does not support this version of 7.1.

Sometimes you just get sideswiped by reality.

It's probably they hit a certain point and went with 7.5 just because.

Oh well.

Does it need a system enabler for 7.1?

Did you have the System Enabler in there? 088 v1.1

System Enabler 088

1.0 - First release.
1.0.1 - Required for System 7 Pro 7.1.1 support.
1.1 - Added support for Quadra 660AV.
1.2 - Corrects problems with serial port, involving printing to
LaserWriter 310 Select and crashing in certain instances when
receiving a fax and network traffic is high.

White - We think alike :)

We do. ;)

I'll look but it was original install media for the 660av. I got it to install, but would not boot.

I'll look again, thanks for the ideas.

You sure it isn't the Centris 660av install media?

It's the system software media cd for the 660av and 840av.

It saw it was a 660av and installed that's what was odd.

On reboot say this version of 7.1 will not run on this macintosh. I will look for an enabler.

088 was there but did not boot. I'll try and make a copy with 1.1.

Weird it says 660av in the read me and such but it won't boot.
