The only difference I have seen aside from the brand is the strip of foam on top of the iMac's drive. It is worth noting that a standard ATAPI drive from a pc will work but may not be bootable.
In my experience the drives from the trayloading iMacs and Lombard are total crap and should be replaced with a newer and better drive as soon as possible.
