seesm like you have two problems a sticky hard drive - the low mb drives were prone to this. picking up another drive from a busted pb1xx can solve that. i took mine from a pb160. such a bad screen on that one.
anyway the other problem sounds like an issue that was covered in great detail in a thread that existed before the darkness came - and no is lost. (whoever posted that thread, post again?)
anyway - if memory serves there is a cracked whatjamacallit behind the screen housing, fixing or soldering that can solve the problem. it was a detailed thread too.
sadly i never saved it, which is a pity as it seems to be the same thing i have woth my pb100. my screen sometimes goes on other times it flashes and makes a clicky noise.
