I think the Mac users are trying to make us disappear. Even after all of your years of loyalty to the cause. So we better make sure we are prepared, and catalog our arsenal.
Or to put it in less fanciful terms, what Apple II's do you have?
I'll start:
* Apple IIgs
* Apple IIc+
* Apple IIc (1 complete, 1 for parts)
* Apple II+

.. I lost it I have it somewhere thoughmy first computer was a IIgs "Woz Edition" with upgraded video, ram 20mb external hd, imagewriter II with color ribbon and the RGB display. it was awesome. spyhunter was never so much fun. i think it ran os5, i doubt 6.
How do you upgrade video on a IIgs?
The IIGS ran GS/OS, not Mac OS.
He didn't suggest otherwise. The last version of GSOS was 6.
There was the Second Sight SVGA card for the IIgs. I haven't heard much said about it in years, aside from it not being very compatible with anything. At the time that I was paying attention, it was rare and pricey. Likely more than a TWGS/ZipGS.
I have an Apple ][+ with the European 240v Power Supply (hence "Europlus"). I also have a ][+ clone made by Apcom.

Is there a fanciful way of counting of how many we have of each? I am sure I am into single digits of everything except the the IIgs.
Not really up grading Video on the IIgs, but most of the XBR series from Sony would display 80 Col on a 25 inch clear.
Will have to try the IIgs on my son's LCD when I go over there.
As far as the Mac user wanting us gone, brings up sad memories of past user group meetings that they belittled any II users and all they wanted to hear about the lastest mac items. Till you did not want to go.

A Lisa would be cool to play with for a short time, but an Apple II would be better for long term enjoyment (IMHO).

i never used an apple 2 beyond an emulator which crashed
Weird. Which emulator? And did you have the ROM? (Typically, emulators don't ship with ROMs because of copyright concerns.) Also, did you have a disk image to play with?
to be honest ? i dont remember it has been a while it was on the windows ides of things and i wasnt really making an effort
While a Flight Lieutenant Instructor of my youth was fond of saying, "The price of liberty is eternal viligance (sic)", I don't believe that there is immediate risk from the Mac hordes. Especially not from those effete unupgraded original 68000 Macs ... Despite my cutting my teeth on IIes when they were new (Ah! the nostalgia for spaghetti BASIC coding for control of bacterial fermentations), my present Apple IIe, and its cousin card for LC Macs, languish in stately idleness at present. Fortunately I kept all my Apple floppies and software when the migration to Mac came, and have collected more than a few upgrades for Abraham in recent years. With luck, one day ...

I fired up my IIc+ a couple of days ago just to listen to the death march on Indy. (Not for the enjoyment of it, but just to confirm that it was in that game where I first heard it.)

I got the computer with 2 matching floppy drives and the A/V "backpack" while I was working part-time as a janitor at a high school. It was in the drama class' props room. I asked the drama teacher about itand he basically told me to dispose of it in any way I saw fit... SCORE!
I agree... I imagine having a Lisa would be about as much as having a Mac Plus. Not that I'd turn down a free one, mind you!
Of course I'm biased... I enjoy programming in Applesoft and [a little] 6502 assembly -- the Mac/Lisa side doesn't offer such an easy entry into programming.

The B&H was a nice find. The closest that I ever came to one was at a computer recycling depot in Calgary. I snagged the drives, but couldn't find the computer itself.
While I agree that the Mac doesn't provide as easy an entry level to programming, it does have more sophisticated high level compilers and assorted programming tools. So you can do fancier stuff and debugging that fancy stuff is easier.
Granted, Opus ][ does offer a nice set of compilers.

I don't have an Apple II-series computer anymore, but I used to have an Apple //c when I was a kid. That was my first REAL computer. Before that I had an Aquarius 1 but I don't count that.

it doesnt matter how long i have hung around here i am still stunned at the number of computers that some people actually have in their posession.
i have 11 plus a few handhelds - and that seems excessive - how you all do it still amazes me.

But no Apple ][ J+ yet?
I can't believe the IIe isn't number 1. I thought there were more of those made than any other II.
Keep in mind that the survey asks about the *oldest* Apple II in your collection. So over all there may be more IIe's.
Though I will admit to being surprised at how many of us are on the older end of the spectrum.

but yeah quadra i know that IIgs' ran gsos and not macos...because i had one
and i don't remember what the vga card was, we donated it about 13-14 years ago and i haven't seen it since so i have no idea what the specifics are. i just remember the HD size because it was full and therefore caused me much annoyance

A Mac monitor will not work. The IIgs drives the monitor at NTSC frequencies, so it has more in common with the Amiga in that respect.

None that I'm aware of... also any ADB peripheral (trackballs etc) that needs a driver probably won't work.
The good news is that the IIgs has a composite video port, so you have easy alternatives. Mind you, GS/OS is barely tolerable without the crispness of the IIgs monitor. On second thought, GS/OS is barely tolerable, period!
I used to have a 7 or 8 MHz TWGS, and GS/OS was quite nice, thank-you. Without it though, it is not tolerable!
I have wired up a cable for the IIgs to use the RGB on Commodore monitors. It gives a crisp image.

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding one, they're pretty common (even the Woz signature model). The problem is that without extra memory and some kind of mass storage, the IIgs isn't much more than a fast IIc.
Ahm. IIe. It does have those expansion ports after all. Come to think of it, it supports those awfully useful 3.5 inch floppies too.

2 IIe, both early versions (no number pad) and with Duodisks and monitors, one is in original boxes (not sure if original to that machine though).
2 IIc, both complete with the small monochrome monitors.
1 GS Woz edition with 3.5" & 5.25" external FD units.

There weren't any cards that went up to 18 MHz on the market, though people did replace the processor, crystal, and some supporting components to overclock it like mad.
I can hardly walk into my computer room :O

at the left only text : Apple IIe
at the right : the Apple logo
For that matter, there's actually a platinum 3.5" drive on the left for comparison... the IIe is a beige in good condition, not a platinum.

The platinum IIe is actually one of my favorite Apple systems. I currently have 1 IIGS Rom 3 with a 5.25" and 3.5" diskette drives. I'm always on the hunt for a pristine platinum IIe.
