I had the same/similar experience in a IIcx, which had been upgraded from 7.0 to 7.1 to 7.5 with all the in-betweens. SuperClock had not been discarded in the process, and, putatively, was slugging it out with whatever Apple changed it into when they acquired the rights to include it in their own System. Deletion of SuperClock fixed the problem.
