Old Macs are still useful even if the date/time is not set correctly. Heck, I removed all the batteries form my old Macs. I do whatever trick is necessary to get them to boot, and don't even bother setting the date/time.
Worst-case, you can just set the date 100 years behind the current year. Everything should still be fine if you just remember and take note of it.
