lol nah, the cracks were there while i had ubuntu on it, but the one on the side near the support screw finally went all the way through so i figured it was probably time for a good old fashioned homebrew fix

awesome thing is though, on monday i'll be picking up a TiBook, an iBook G3 and a PowerBook G3 (unsure of model) from work as they are "not working". the last "non-working" machine i got from work was a 500MHz Pismo which works perfectly
