Coupla things:
1) After installing 7.0 (if that's what you end up doing), be sure to apply the update to 7.0*. That will cure problems like disappearing folders (!). And if you're using a later version of 7, just be sure to apply any updates that may exist for that version.
2) You can support drives larger than 2GB, as long as you partition it into pieces no larger than 2GB. There's a limit to the number of partitions, but that's almost never a practical constraint.
