I haven't found any real double density (800/720) disks anywhere for sale.

Taping a 1.44 MB disk to fake an 800K/720K disk doesn't work. Unformatted ones are rare and I've never seen them. They are always formatted for DOS. When you tape the hole and then format it for 800K it always fails.
