I has it:

It's probably going to cost at least as much again to ship it from there to here but it means the project is well and truly under way :D

Good deal!

I would have thought they would have listed shipping costs. At least there's a place for it on the US site.

There's a space for it on ebay.au as well. Some people use it, some don't. Some list shipping costs in the body of the auction, some don't. I usually ask for a total whenever I buy something, if only to buy me a little time to get the funds together :p

51 AUD, how much is that in real money? :p

You mean Euros? :p

Hi LSD - well done on the Gigabit/DA !

I snagged a G4 350 and G4 400 from him for AU$21 each !!!

Also got two G3 400 Imacs that I should be able to combine into one working machine for AU$31 total.

His brief listings put people off I think.

Macdownunder

Hey good score. I've got one too I'm building up as soon as my new CPU arrives from the US. Let's compare notes.

I think you'll have an easier time with yours than I'll have with mine. You have a genuine DA CPU module which will just be a drop-in replacement whereas I have a QS one which requires splicing in 12V (and quite possibly modification of the HS).

My 1GHz ti will still spank the lot of ya!

Seriously though I would love to have a quicksilver. I just don't like the look of MDD's. I wonder I could transplant the guts of an MDD into a QS case.

Too broke to actually buy anything. If I wasn't facing foreclosure ATM though...

You mean Euros? :p
and that is supposed to be real money ?

I got the shipping quote this morning: AUD$67. It's costing me AUD$16 more to ship it over than I paid for it :p

You should get shipping quotes before you buy stuff. It's usually shipping that kills an otherwise sweet deal.

I knew it was going to cost an arm and a leg to get it over here to begin with. However, even at AUD$118 total, that's still cheaper than trying to buy it locally.

$au = ~ $0.80 us

w00t!

Got an email from the seller this morning telling me that it's been posted. With any luck it'll be here by the end of the week! :D

yea my friend somehow got a DA G4 466mhz for $70, $50 + $30 shipping off of ebay. and normaly they sell all day long for over $100. prolly getting lower in price cause they are not going to be supported in leopard.

Still they make a great Tiger box though...

Good deal!

Machine arrived today. Looks nice. Has a few more scratches than I was expecting but that's OK. It's also missing the primary hard drive sled. I knew it wasn't going to have a hard drive but missing the sled too is annoying. There's two more I can harvest if need be as well as the ones in my B&W but I'll see what I can rummage up first.

The really weird thing about it is that it won't boot up with the 128MB DIMM that came in it. It'll just give the single "No RAM" beep. Nor will it boot with the 512MB DIMM I have (though this is really funky). It *will* however boot from RAM pulled from the G3 not to mention the G3 will boot with the 128MB DIMM from the DA (it's in the machine as I'm typing this). Any ideas?

edit: I think I've discovered why it won't boot with the 128MB DIMM: It's marked PC100. Still, that doesn't explain why the 512MB DIMM doesn't work. Maybe it's just too funky (only board I've ever seen utilise it full is the VIA board I originally bought it for)...

DOH

i meant $80 and not $70, i wasn't paying attention, cause i was tired and was about to go to sleep when i posted that

yea he paid $50 for the system and $30 to have it shipped, orignaly the guy wanted a insane amount to have it shipped just a few states away ( the shipping was around $90+ ) it went on for a few weeks cause of the price of shipping ( its one of those ebay listings with a over priced shipping price, to pull a fast one over ebay's eye's) the guy finally refunded $60 of the shipping back.

i dont think ebay cares much for the people that does that.
