Public Logging never works out well. Every channel we trialed it in ended up failing due to the insecurity of the users. Sometimes even private logging can be a problem, because it still ends up on someone's hard disk and too often i've seen it abused.

I know that in a rough time I had earlier in the year, some of the channel users were extremely supportive and offered words of wisdom. Nice as they were, I sure as hell would hate to know that discussion was being logged.

If something useful comes up in the channel, then that portion of the discussion can be clipped and placed in to the wiki or somewhere else. We don't need channel logging, the channel is peaceful enough as-is. At the very least the channel should remain the same as it is now.

Voted "No, Bad Idea". I too am inclined to leave if Public Logging passes, but any changes to the current setup which affect our privacy will do the same. I don't think anyone will care if they lose me, but I don't think i'm the only one who would feel this way about the situation should it occur.
