We did, the simplest way to get unrecorded discussion across in that channel is to take advantage of the 50 or so netsplits we get per week.

Fact is logging just does not work in a channel. I have the past experience in channel and network operation to be able to say that i've seen channels fall apart because a logging system was introduced. It generally scraps the rule of 'what is said in the channel, stays in the channel'.

Oh, and don't for a second think that I don't put consideration in to what I say before I say it, k?

I guess it all boils down to how you look at the irc channels in general. I try to post on topic on the forum, and tend to be more off topic in the channels. Some people view the forum as being public for all to see, while the irc channel is more private like talking among friends. The reality is anything you say can and possibly will be recorder by somebody. I log private and public conversations I have just because I don't have a perfect memory and sometimes I promise somebody something and forget, or forget who I was talking to about a deal or whatever. I asume others do the same. Therefore I view the channels as being public and anything I say can and will be broadcast all over the place. You just have to watch what you say if you don't want it spread around. The channel is not as private as some think it is.
