Here's the thing, I think that thing on the right-hand side in that picture is another connector. At least it appears that way on my board. I have the Processor Upgrade install manual somewhere since I actually performed it myself on mine, but finding it may take some time. Looking at my board, it would appear the whole thing will pull right off, just lift straight up. It is unlikely that the seller shipped it desocketed. More likely it was jarred lose during shipping. In which case, that additional connector could have been misaligned/bent and you will have to realign it so the card will fit down. That is the only explanation I can come up with for why it won't fit down properly. However, be very careful pulling the board completely off and re-inserting it because the pins are delicate.
