The Cube ousold the Xbox because there are more GAMECUBES out there than Xboxes.. Both sold out. Besides, there are twenty times as many PS2's out there than there are Xboxes and GAMECUBEs combined.
We'll have to wait a few months before we know just how successful or unsuccessful these consoles are. Hardcore gamers will buy anything at launch. This is not a good gauge at how well these consoles will do in the long run.
This does not mean that consumers will walk away from Microsoft when they have a choice. The game console industry has no relation to the computer software industry.
