I have a 450MHz iMac DV running OS X 10.1.5 and an older Powermac 6500 running OS 9.1

The Powermac 6500 is my home file server. It is on 24/7

My iMac is used by myself and my wife, but we shut it down when not in use.

What is the best way to have the 6500 mounted on the iMac desktop? I am familiar with Appletalk and that works fine... but I have to manually mount the 6500 on the iMac everytime I turn it on. Is there a way in OS X to automatically mount a network drive similar to how it was done in OS 9? (There was a checkbox to automount the drive in the Appletalk settings in OS 9... I can't find that option in OS X)

Thank you for any information and I would appreciate any advice on alternate methods of file sharing other than Appletalk... Is there something else I should look into?

P.S. I mainly use the file sharing for my collection of MP3 files... I have iTunes setup on the iMac with the library located on the 6500...
