I think it will work. I've got a Linksys BEFW11S4 hooked up to a cable modem. The Linksys is directly connected to my PowerBook, but I have an iBook connected via an Airport wireless card. It works perfectly - the iBook actually seems to work better than my PowerBook which is directly connected. Setup was a little trickier since Linksys doesn't openly support Macs - search the forums with "Linksys and airport" or just "Linksys" and you should be able to find the info you need. That's how I figured it out. Good luck and save some money!
