ok, something weird is going on. i can access my college website, but when i try ANY other site, it either 'times out' or takes a while to connect, kinda receives data in spurts. anyone know whats going on?

i never had this problem last semester, but then i never had an ipod either, so the firewire port was never in use. could that have a role to play in this debacle?

its certainly not the ethernet cable, cause i tried it with two different cables, and two different locations even... same problem.

also i have net monitor, and i see data being RECEIVED constantly. even when there's no application running.

i'm using 10.1.4, but that cant be the cause, it exists in OS 9 as well.
