NTL Broadband over Airport
I have an NTL Broadband connection here in the UK.
It is connected via Ethernet into my iMac, and it works fine.
I have now installed an Airport Card into the iMac and my iBook and I would like to share the Internet connection across the two.
I am running OS X 10.2, so I have turned on Internet Sharing via Airport on the iMac and it is now acting as an Airport Base Station.
I can see the Airport Network from the iBook and I am able to connect to it fine.
The problem is I am not getting access to the Internet on the iBook.
If I use IE, is says 'looking for www.macnn.com' and then I get the 'server could not be found' message.
Here are the settings from the iMac Network Pane :-
Configure Using DHCP
IP Address : 213.106.132.119
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Router : 213.106.132.1
On the iBook the setting are as follows :-
Configure Using DHCP
IP Address : 10.0.2.2
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Router : 10.0.2.1
Can anyone help me please, or am I unable to share NTL's Broadband ?
I do know that if I want to connect my iBook to the NTL box via the Ethernet cable, I need to reboot the NTL box and the iBook. In fact I needed to register both machines with the NTL box before I could use them. But I assumed I would be sharing the connection from the iMac and it would not affect the NTL box. Please tell me I have not wasted 170 on two Airport Cards !!
Thanks in advance
Ian
