D-Link USB Wireless Adapter + Base Station

D-Link USB Wireless Adapter + Base Station Networking 3 posts Aug 29, 2002 — Aug 30, 2002
Im going to be buying a new G4 in the next week or two, and so am considering options for networking it with my current G4 (400 PCI, no Airport support built in).

I saw a D-Link USB wireless adapter today, the box doesnt mention Mac support, has anyone tried using one of these? Also if this (or other wireless USB device) works, could my old G4 be set up to be a software base station?

Thanks in advance for any help.

James
Not sure about D-Link, but I use a Proxim Skyline USB wireless adapter on a Beige G3/266 with no problems, at least in OS 9. I don't know if there are OS X drivers for it.

Be very careful of what you buy; not all wireless equipment, and particularly not all USB equipment, supports a Mac OS. Make sure that you have proof that the vendor provides Mac drivers before you buy. D-Link has a very good reputation, and their prices are very good. Just be sure that they support Macs with any product you buy from them.
