I purchased a D-Link 614+ router along with an Airport card and iBook. Currently I have my cable modem plugged into the LAN port. I'm connected to the router through an Airport card installed in my iBook 700. Can anyone tell me how to setup security with this setup (ie not allow others to access my wireless network)? Using D-Link's configurator on the web there is an option to setup -> no security, 128 bit or 256 bit security. I tried to setup 256 bit but the setting would not take. Upon calling a D-Link Tech Support person they mentioned that I should not setup the security at the router rather using the MAC address security option. I'm lost. What the heck did he mean? He said setting up the security at the router would slow down all of my communications with the router. Is there a better way to set up this security (ie Airport Admin Tool? Third Party Software?).
Also, the D-Link states that they have an enhanced wireless chip inside their router (Texas Instrument) that gives up to 22 Megabits/sec bestting normal transmition speeds of 11 Megabits/sec. Does this functionallity require their own card, or could an Airport card achieve these speeds?
