If using a Airport card, I think they just support 128 bit security. WEP is pretty much a hackable kludge anyway, so 256 bit isn't really more secure.
But anyway...
Go to the setup page, and select the Wireless button on the left side. You should get a screen with the name of your network, etc, and a place to enter security information. Select 128 bit encryption, ascii encoding, and push the radio button next to key one. Enter a 13 character passphrase here. This is the pass needed to access the network. To do this from an Apple machine, when you try to join the network you'll be asked for a password. Enter this 13-character password, preceeded by a $ sign. It'll all be blanked out when entering, but it should work. I just added it to my keychain and I never have to enter it again.
The 22 Mbps thing is D-Link's, it won't work with an Apple card, you'll still just get 11 Mbps. Which is pretty decent anyway, unless you're copying huge files.
