I was hoping someone could direct me to a site containing detailed instructions on how to set up an os x.1. - windows pc network.

thanks!

The easy way...

1. Upgrade to OS X 10.2
2. Open Sharing Preferences, select "Windows File Sharing," click Start.

I wish
I'm not getting 10.2 for another week and a half... and I need to get this networking done today.

search this forum for "SMB" and read.. the instructions were posted almost every week, untill 10.2 came out.
The forums looked cleaned out of the older posts, Here is how I used to do it on my ibook to windows XP

step 1 set up filesharing on the PC and make sure the firewall is turned off, at least till you get it working. Share a folder

step 2 type this in the dialog box in connect to server in the finder, replacing the names of course to what is setup on your windows box.

smb://computername/sharedfoldername

I think sometimes you have to type in the "workgroup" as well.

smb://worgroupname;computername/sharedfoldername

This is by memory so forgive me if I have it slighty incorrect. 10.2 allows you to just search for the PC on the network.
