I'm currently using Brickhouse to share an adsl connection from an imac to 2 ibooks and a powerbook. All run Jaguar with latest upgrades.
Simple set-up , adsl modem connects into imac via ethernet and share is over a wireless network that has been established by the imac (the server)
What I'd like to do is use another firewall front end , so I figured with Jaguar the idea is to use the built in internet connection sharing. This is where it stops for me. If I enable this on the server I cannot create or join a wireless network from the server.
We currently use manual static ip addresses - so I changed to dhcp for the ibooks - no good. I noticed that the server sets itself up as 10.0.2.1 netmask 10.0.2.255 when you enable sharing. There is no way I found to connect another mac to the server with sharing enabled.
What am I missing ? Does this work at all in Jaguar ? Does it involve a DHCP server running on the machine doing the serving ?- note that I do NOT have OSX Server on any machine.
