I am having a problem with my network. I have an 867MHz single processor PowerMac with over 1GB of memory and 60 GB of disk space running X 10.2.1. It is connected via a hub to a couple of PCs. This is a local network not connected to the internet. For my internet connection I use PPP and the Macs internal modem. There is no domain name and no server. We just use the network for moving files between the Mac and the PCs by FTP.

For some reason the Mac seems to be constantly polling the network and producing errors. Here is a sample of the recent console.log.

Sep 25 18:57:32 Gandalf lookupd[547]: DNSAgent: dns_send_query_server - multicast send failed on interface lo0 for 224.0.0.251

Sep 25 18:58:54 Gandalf netinfod local[273]: update 0 to mensch[199.172.38.3]/local failed during binder contacting - couldn't getregister

What do I have to do to get rid of these CPU grabbing errors.

TIA,
Jim
