Wireless headphones? Software 6 posts Dec 12, 2002 — Jan 16, 2004
Hi all,
Because of the way I have my Mac and PC set up at work, I decided a year ago to get wireless headphones since the headphone cord kept getting caught in my chair. I got the Advent 720 which is OK, but yesterday they broke (cheap-ass plastic) and the 900MHz signal always had bad static, even though the base station was less than 2 feet from me.

Can anyone suggest something better? How are those Bluetooth wireless headphones working out? I can find them to buy, but I can't find any reviews on them.

Any wireless gear from Sony bound to be good. I have a set of ca. 1992 Sony infrared wireless gear, and despite being analog (albeit with Dolby C noise reduction), the sound quality is superb, and the range incredible (I can leave my room, and as long as the door is open, it can still find enough IR signal to give clear sound for another 15 feet).

Of course, if you need to go through walls, you have to go with RF models.

Check out www.sonystyle.com -> Accessories -> Headphones -> Wireless. (Can't give URL, it'll expire.)

what would be sweet would be some wireless earbuds
They do exist. But they're for things like performers and law enforcement*, not for Hi Fi music enjoyment.

* and for con men, like the "faith healer" in the 80s who "divined" what people's ailments were based on the information they had filled out on postcards, relayed to him via a hidden earpiece.
Ok, a year later and I still have the same crappy wireless headphones. Has ANYTHING decent come out in the last year? I'm listening to them now and they're more distortion than a Picasso painting.
