Pasting New Icons

Just fooling around with some new icons I had downloaded, and I'm finding I can't copy/paste (through Get Info) custom icons over Apple's standard fare. Applications, Home, Documents etc. all will not let me past anything over them. I checked my permissions, but everything seems to be set to read/write. Anything going on here I don't know about?

i think most of those you just CAN'T overwrite in the simple copy/paste manner. you could probably do it via terminal, or just go over to www.iconfactory.com and download "candybar" which will allow you to customize all those hard to customize icons easily and safely.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Yes, check in the "Mac OS X" thread to see my post about Candybar. I found it, used it, and seem to have f�cked up my entire system. About half my applications crash seconds into loading. Sigh.

Ugh. This sucks ass.

I never heard anything bad about candybar before. It always works fine for me.

you know what you could do is move the icons you want to the desktop. Then you cut and paste. Then just move them back into their respective folders.

That always work.
