Do bright-coloured desktop wallpapers shorten the lifespan of LCD monitors or am I just being paranoid?

I'm using a white, glossified desktop that perfectly compliments BoOzo's excellent, newest version of Smoothstripes. My whole screen is pretty white. Planes could probably land by it!

That being said, I even keep my screen's brightness settings a little on the dark side, thinking it's going to help in the longterm.

Thoughts!?
i also wonder about this, im on a powerbook, would having such a light white background shorten the life of your screen or no?
I don't think so. It's the backlight that wares out, and as that's always on even if you the screen is 'dark'.
Thanks, Mediaman_12!

Anybody else want to weigh in? Certainly some of you out there are very knowledgeable on the hardware side. Please, put our fears to rest.
